On September 14, 2001, a man identifying himself as Lyle Stevik checked into a motel in Amanda Park, Washington. He committed suicide 3 days later. Mystery soon followed when investigators realized that his name wasn't actually Lyle Stevik. Who is this man?

Physical Description:
White or Native Man (possible Hispanic)
20 - 30 Years Old
6' 2" Tall
140 Pounds
Hazel Eyes
Black Hair
He was wearing jeans with a 36" waist and investigators believe he had recently lost around 40 pounds

Lyle arrived in Amanda Park by bus around 4:30 in the afternoon on Friday, September 14, 2001. It was just 3 days after the terrorist attacks on September 11. The motel is small and nondescript and he wasn't asked for identification. His registration info was written on the back of the payment envelope:

Name: Lyle Stevik
Address: 1019 S. Progress Ave
State: ID (Meridian ID)

He paid $43.87 for one night and was assigned to room #8. He took a shower there but then returned to the office and complained that his room was too noisy. At that point he was reassigned to room #5

On Saturday the maid came to the room but "Lyle" sent her away saying that he wanted to stay a little while longer. He told the maid that he didn't need the room cleaned but he did want clean towels.

Later that day the manager noticed "Lyle" pacing up and down beside the road.

On Sunday, "Lyle" purchased a copy of the Daily World. The maid came by but he sent her away again.

On the morning of Monday, September 17 the maid once again came to Room #5. When no one answered her knock, she opened the door. She saw Lyle kneeling and says she thought he was praying. She later told the manager who entered the room after noon and found that "Lyle" had hung himself.

It is believed that Lyle had hung himself during the night or early in the morning on September 17. He hung himself from a rather short clothes rack so that he looked like he was kneeling on the floor as he hung. Investigators believe that is why the maid thought he was praying and that she actually saw him after he was already dead.

Items Found in the room:
Money along with a note that said "for the room"
Tooth brush and paste
A crumpled note in the trash can that said SUICIDE

gray Fruit of the Loom t-shirt (he was wearing)
Levi 550 jeans (size 36-34) (he was wearing)
