It is estimated that there are nearly 40,000 unidentified human remains in the United States. These people are buried or cremated without names and without family.
Our goal at UM is to help bring attention to these nameless victims and to help give them their names and bring them home. Each UID (unidentified) is researched thoroughly by a volunteer before being presented on the blog.
Most posts will contain pictures of what the deceased may have looked like in life. These reconstructions are only an estimation and may contain errors. Matches should not be ruled out based on these alone.
